LTG Cargo Ukraine Bridges Baltic Countries and Ukraine

2024-05-23

LTG Cargo Ukraine, a subsidiary of LTG Cargo, plays a crucial role as a comprehensive link between the Baltic countries and Ukraine. It is committed to providing the best possible support for Ukraine and its partners.

A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Ukrainian Railways to establish a new freight route connecting Klaipėda and Kyiv. LTG Group plans to test the first intermodal journeys this year, with the route eventually being used for regular cargo transportation. This initiative aims not only to strengthen ties between Lithuania and Ukraine but also to leverage the potential of railways, port terminals, and border crossings in both countries.

Despite disrupted logistics chains due to the ongoing Russia’s war in Ukraine, LTG Cargo Ukraine trains efficiently cross the border—an essential aspect given the limited infrastructure at Ukrainian border crossings.

“We transport grain, corn, fertilizers, and sunflower oil from Ukraine. Grain is transported in containers via the Mostyska2/Medyka and Jagodin/Darohusk railway stations to the seaport in Klaipėda, while petroleum (gasoline) is transported from Klaipėda, Mockava, and Riga to Ukraine. We also carry fertilizers, cardboard, plastic, animal feed, and paper to Ukraine, using various types of containers,” says Saulius Stasiūnas, CEO of LTG Cargo Ukraine.

LTG Cargo Ukraine also provides wagon return services (grain containers, tankers, semi-tankers) between the Baltic countries and Ukraine.

“In the first quarter of this year, we managed to transport more than 200 wagons from Ukraine to Lithuania. This achievement is possible thanks to our efficient logistics network,” emphasizes S. Stasiūnas.

LTG Cargo Group continually expands its range of services. It serves as an example of dynamic growth and expansion into new markets, contributing to increased competitiveness and transportation services in the European market.
