2023-07-19

Until now, “LTG Cargo” and its subsidiary “LTG Cargo Ukraine” had transported to Lithuania only their own wagons and those leased to Lithuanian grain companies on a pilot basis.

In order to provide the new service as smoothly as possible, LTG Cargo Ukraine started transporting wagons from Ukraine to Lithuania to customers through the Polish-Ukrainian border point Izov-Hrubiešov, and started changing broad gauge wagons European route at the Sendziszów terminal (Poland). The service is organized in cooperation with “Ukrainian Railways” and companies “PKP LHS“, “PKP Cargo”.

By starting to provide services through an alternative terminal, transportation can be completed up to 5 times faster.

“The first shipments to customers required concentration due to the number of partners involved in the supply chain and the extremely complex procedures for coordinating the authorizations necessary for transport. At present, we have returned more than half -dozen wagons to Lithuanian customers, including those for grain transportation In the near future, we plan to expand this service and start providing technical park recovery services to customers from other Baltic countries.

Agricultural products are a particularly important part of the food supply chain, so we will strive to offer our customers the most efficient harvest transportation services. And each additional wagon or grain truck will allow us to ensure the largest possible transport volumes,” said Eglė Šimė, Head of LTG Cargo.

In mid-summer and in anticipation of the extremely important harvest season for the country’s agro-industry, up to 10% is allocated to grain transportation. more car fleet managed by the company than last year, car set building practices are further improved, operational planning and communication with customers are strengthened.

“During the peak of the grain season, up to 70% is transported of the entire year’s harvest. Therefore, in the coming months, we will give maximum priority to grain transport, both by effectively planning the only by solving operational problems and ensuring the rotation of wagons. We are constantly in contact with our customers and quickly update plans according to their needs. Last year, we transported 3.7 million t of this type of production, including nearly 2.3 million t customers in Lithuania.

Despite the less favorable weather conditions for agriculture this year, we expect to transport a similar amount of production this year,” said E. Šimė.
